Multifunctional clusters for biomedical applications
(NCCR Project)

Ioana was born in Bucharest (Romania) and grew up in Florida (U.S.A). She completed her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida. In 2010 she began her Ph.D. studies at the University of Iowa, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics, under the supervision for Professor Robert J. Kerns. As a graduate researcher, she focused on the design and development of a novel class of small molecule heparin mimics for the treatment of inflammatory lung diseases. In August 2016 she joined the Palivan group and focuses on development of polymersome based systems for biomedical applications. She left the group to face new professional challenges in 2020.
